Sculpture 2 : Natura #1

Media: 316 Stainless Steel and Powder coat

Dimensions: 60"T x 48"W x 36"D

$12000

The Natura Series evolved from my earlier Vita Nova Series. Both explore the wonderfully irregular forms of new plant life as it emerges from the ground and begins to grow. In the Vita Nova sculptures, the forms carry more visual mass near the base and taper as they rise. The Natura Series reverses that relationship, creating shapes that expand upward and take on a more fluid, Chihuly-esque presence.

The series also represents one of my earliest explorations of color in sculpture. Each form is fabricated from 316 stainless steel and finished with a vibrant, durable powder coat, providing excellent resistance to rust and the elements.

Sculpture 1 : Ripple Effect

Media: Corten Steel, Stainless Steel, powder coat

Dimensions: 9'T x 48"W x 48"D

$8,000

This sculpture was designed for a temporary exhibit along the Missouri river. The concepts were to be based on the river and it's effects on the environment and community. "Ripple Effect" highlights individual activity along the river and how those actions affect the surrounding environment and fauna. Each "affect" ripples out affecting everything that it touches, including "affects" from other parts of the river.

The original name of the sculpture was "Ripple Affect", due to the description above, but people kept changing the name to "Ripple Effect" for the plaques because they thought I was using the word wrong, lol. Eventually I just caved.
